Advocacy can take many forms—but is always intended to gain the attention of policy-makers, opinion-shapers, and/or members of the public. When it comes to restoring DPA, we need to leverage your considerable expertise as housing professionals, housing advocates, program beneficiaries, and grassroots activists.

With the elimination of downpayment assistance on October 1st, 2008, we need to kick out all the stops to restore DPA. Enter Groundswell's 50 Days / 50 Ways strategy—one simple step that every supporter can complete each day. It's a small investment of time and talent from each of you, but with the millions of Americans touched by DPA, the effect will be tremendous.

This strategy has been designed to engage key decision makers and opinion shapers at appropriate times. The actions will take just 5-15 minutes as we realize that the primary supporters of Groundswell, homebuyers, community activists and housing professionals, are busy people.

Yet we're confident that these minutes will be well spent. They will bring the issue of downpayment assistance to key decision makers at key times.
